Pine Forest

This is the best place to hunt as it is prey-rich and has all kinds of herb and soft moss.

Prey: Sparrows, blackbirds, magpie, squirrels, frogs, lizards, mice, voles

Predators: Foxes, badgers

Herbs: Mallow, catmint, juniper berries, dock, sage, comfrey

The tom bounded into the Pine Forest. He breathed in the soft scent of the ferns and felt the soft leafs under his paws. The Pine Forest was the best place to hunt, in his opinion. He waited for Willowdance and looked around for something to catch. Longstripe didn't see anything at the moment so he just waited.

Willow trotted through the forest, her senses filled with the smell of plants and prey. Turning to glance around, she realized Longstripe was no where to be found. "Longstripe?" she hissed, not wanting to scare the prey. "Where did you go?" her voice was still light, but held a bit of confusion in it. She was still getting used to the forest, ad her smell wasnt as good as it coud be.

Longstripe hissed and leaped out at Willowdance, with claws sheathed, bowling her over. His eyes glittered with amusement as he pinned the she-cat down."I'm right here." He meowed, barely stiffling a mrrow of laughter.

Willow screeched as a form jumped out from no where and pinned her down. Letting her body go limp, she rolled out from under it and faced the offender. When she saw who it was, she pinned her ears in embarrasment. "Oh, its you. There you are," she said lamely, before giving in and chuckling a little.

The tom flicked her shoulder with his tail. "No need to get so worked up." He says quietly. "Now, about that hunting." He was sure that her screech didn't scare away any prey, as he hadn't heard a bird make an alarm call. "Lets get to it. You first, I want to see how your ShadowClan skills are coming along." He meowed, with a quiet authority, though he was kind about it. His whiskers twitched, waiting fo her reaction.

Willow nodded her consent. Scenting the air, she crouched into a hunters crouch. Scanning the forest floor for movement, she made sure her tail wasnt dragging. Spotting a squirrel at the base of a tree, she made a low gutteral sound and stalked towards it. When she was close enough, she sprang, ready to catch it with her claws. The squirrel escaped and started running up a tree. With a snarl of annoyance, she leaped up on the tree and caught the squirrel in her jaws. Leaping back down she murmured thanks to Starclal and glanced at Longstripe. "So embarrasing," she muttered to herself.

Longstripe said nothing, though his eyes gave away his thoughts. "You could have been a bit more tactful." He meowed softly. He dropped into the hunters ctouch, spotting another thrush. He crept forward and- *snap*. He groaned as he stepped on the twig and the bird fluttered away with a loud alarm call. He leaped upward after it, hjs claws just grazing its feathers and they fluttered down as well. He blinked in embarrassment at thewarrior. "At least you caught something." He mumbled. "Great job anyway." He felt even more embarrased because he was deputy and should know how to hunt right by now.

Willow watched him carefully, ready to pick up any tips she could. Wincing as he stepped on a stick, her eyes followed the bird as it flew away, blaring its loud alarm call. Turning her gaze back to Longstripe, she rested her tail on his shoulder. "Its OK you know. You caught two squirrels this morning. Remember? This is my first all day." Giving him a small smile, she dipped her head. "Your crouch was good though," she said softly, knowing it wasnt her place to tell the deputy about his hunting techniques.

"Thanks." Longstripe gave the she-cat a grateful glance. "Lets go. I have brought two squirrels and you'll bring one, yours." The tom gave her a friendly flick of his tail and trailed off to the camp. -SCC-

Willow twitched her tail in amusement, and picked up her squirrel. Following Longstripe out of the forest, she headed back to camp. Her paws treaded softly on the pine needles, and she sighed in content.
